Refund & Cancellation Policy

This policy outlines your rights and responsibilities when cancelling a booking on Lease-A-Dock. Please read it carefully before making or accepting a booking. By completing a booking, both renters and dock owners agree to this policy.

Renter Cancellation Policy

When you cancel a confirmed booking, the refund amount depends on how far in advance you cancel relative to your check-in date:

Platform service fee: The Lease-A-Dock service fee is non-refundable in all cases except where the cancellation is due to a verified listing inaccuracy or an owner-initiated cancellation.

How to cancel: Log in to your account, navigate to "My Bookings" in your dashboard, and select "Cancel Booking." Cancellations must be made through the platform โ€” verbal or email cancellations are not accepted. The cancellation timestamp recorded by our system determines the applicable refund tier.

Refund processing: Approved refunds are processed within 5โ€“10 business days to your original payment method. Processing times may vary by bank or card issuer.

Owner Cancellation Policy

Dock owners are expected to honor all confirmed bookings. Owner-initiated cancellations negatively impact the platform experience and are handled as follows:

  • Full refund: When an owner cancels a confirmed booking, the renter receives a 100% refund of all amounts paid, including the platform service fee.
  • Listing impact: Owner cancellations are tracked. Repeated cancellations may result in reduced search visibility, temporary listing suspension, or permanent removal from the platform.
  • Emergency cancellations: We understand genuine emergencies occur. If you must cancel due to an emergency (natural disaster, dock damage, etc.), contact support immediately at support@lease-a-dock.com. Emergency cancellations reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Failure to provide access: If an owner fails to provide the renter with access to the dock at the agreed time without prior cancellation, the renter is entitled to a full refund including the service fee, and the owner may be subject to account suspension.

Listing Inaccuracy Policy

If you arrive at a dock and find that it materially differs from what was described in the listing (e.g., incorrect dimensions, amenities not available, dock inaccessible), you may be eligible for a full refund:

  • You must report the issue to Lease-A-Dock support within 24 hours of your scheduled check-in time
  • You must not have used the dock for any portion of the booking period
  • You must provide photographic evidence of the discrepancy
  • Contact: support@lease-a-dock.com or use the in-app support feature

Lease-A-Dock will investigate the claim and, if verified, issue a full refund and take appropriate action against the listing. After 24 hours from check-in, all charges are considered final.

Force Majeure

In cases of extraordinary events outside either party's control โ€” including but not limited to hurricanes, tropical storms, government-mandated evacuations, floods, or other natural disasters โ€” Lease-A-Dock may issue full refunds at its discretion. We monitor weather events and emergency declarations and will proactively reach out to affected bookings.

Renters in affected areas should contact support as soon as a force majeure event is anticipated or declared. Do not wait until after the booking period to report a force majeure situation.

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

We encourage all users to contact us directly to resolve any billing issues before initiating a chargeback with their bank or card issuer. We are happy to review disputes and issue refunds where appropriate under this policy.

Initiating a chargeback in bad faith โ€” where this policy does not entitle you to a refund โ€” may result in account suspension and may make you liable for the full booking amount plus any chargeback fees incurred by Lease-A-Dock.

Tax on Refunds

Where applicable, any taxes collected on the original transaction will also be refunded proportionally when a refund is issued. Lease-A-Dock does not provide tax advice. Consult a tax professional regarding the tax implications of rental income or refunds in your jurisdiction.
